Overview

This document is a specification sheet that outlines the intended use of Emergency Food Ration, a Ready-to-Eat (RTE) fortified dry compressed food that is cereal and vegetable oil-based. This emergency food ration can be prepared as porridge by adding a small amount of boiling water. The document outlines nutritional value, specifications, the raw ingredients, processing methods, packaging and acceptable microbial limits. It also discusses analytical testing requirements and lists useful resources that can be referenced. A number of Codex documents are referenced throughout. A list of applicable raw ingredient specifications can also be found in Section 3 of the document. This document can be used by suppliers to ensure their product meets the indicated specifications.
