Overview

The presentation outlines UNICEF’s vision for alternative recipes for LNS and RUTF to achieve increased localization, reduced carbon emissions, and cost reduction. The presentation highlights the findings on  6 alternative RUTF (chickpea-RUTF, soy-RUTF, soy, maize,sorghum-RUTF, NumTrey, RUTF-mung, and MDF-2) of  their nutritional profile, microbiological, chemical and physical risks and cost comparison while excluding peanut and dairy from the standard RUTF.

Overall, suppliers can use this information when planning potential alternative ingredients for novel formulations. This presentation will be supported by a peer review paper in the future that will be uploaded once published.
